LAB MONITORING
Labs that actually mean something.
GLP-1 therapy is metabolically active medicine. The right labs every three months keep you safe, confirm the medicine is working, and catch problems before they become problems.
Without lab monitoring, you and your provider are guessing. The numbers tell us what is happening inside your body that the scale cannot — and they let your provider titrate your dose, adjust your protocol, and protect your long-term health.
This is not the same as a yearly physical. GLP-1 medication changes how your body processes calories, hormones, and nutrients in a matter of weeks. The cadence has to match the medicine.
WHY EVERY THREE MONTHS
The cadence isn’t arbitrary — it’s how the medicine works.
Three months is when changes become measurable.
HbA1c reflects a roughly 90-day average. Lipid shifts stabilize at 8–12 weeks. Thyroid suppression patterns become readable. Earlier than that, the numbers are still noisy.
Three months is when dose-response patterns emerge.
Your provider can see whether the dose you are on is producing the metabolic shift it should — and adjust before the next quarter starts.
Three months catches subtle side effects before they escalate.
Kidney strain, liver stress, electrolyte shifts, and mineral deficiencies usually start subtle. Quarterly monitoring catches them while they are easy to correct.
Three months tracks muscle preservation in real time.
Trends in creatinine, albumin, and protein markers across quarters tell us whether your muscle preservation protocol is working — or whether we need to adjust your protein targets and resistance training before damage compounds.
WHAT WE ORDER
The panels — and why each one matters.
At minimum, every patient gets the comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, HbA1c, thyroid panel, and vitamin D. We add hormone, inflammation, and muscle-preservation markers based on your specific case.
PANEL 01
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
Glucose, kidney function (BUN, creatinine), liver enzymes, electrolytes. Catches the early signs of dehydration, kidney strain, or liver stress that GLP-1 medications can occasionally trigger before they become problems.
PANEL 02
Lipid Panel
Total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides. GLP-1 therapy usually improves lipid markers dramatically — but not always. We track every quarter to confirm the improvement is real and to catch the rare patients whose markers move the wrong direction.
PANEL 03
HbA1c
Three-month average blood sugar. The clearest single marker of how GLP-1 therapy is shifting your metabolic state. Especially important for prediabetic and type-2 diabetic patients.
PANEL 04
Thyroid panel (TSH, Free T4)
Thyroid status often shifts under significant weight loss. We monitor for the early signs of hypothyroidism that get masked by GLP-1 fatigue and appetite suppression — symptoms that look identical from the outside.
PANEL 05
Vitamin D
Almost always low at baseline in our patients. Repletion supports immunity, mood, bone density, and metabolic recovery during weight loss.
PANEL 06
Hormones (when indicated)
Estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA-S, cortisol. Ordered for patients in perimenopause, menopause, post-partum, or with a PCOS history. Hormones drive metabolism and weight-loss outcomes; ignoring them is a common reason GLP-1 stalls.
PANEL 07
Inflammation markers (when indicated)
hsCRP, ferritin. Chronic systemic inflammation predicts poor weight-loss outcomes and adverse events. When elevated at baseline, we track the response.
PANEL 08
Muscle preservation markers (when indicated)
Trends in creatinine, albumin, prealbumin, and total protein over time give us early warning if you are losing muscle along with fat — long before it shows up as weakness or fatigue.
HOW IT WORKS
Where you go — and how it’s billed.
Where
Your provider sends the order to a Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp near you. Walk in, walk out — no appointment needed for routine panels. Results route back to your provider, who walks through them with you in plain English.
Billing
Comprehensive labs are included in your $295 monthly membership at month one and every three months thereafter. No separate bill from the lab; no insurance to coordinate. The cadence is built into the program.
